Double Sided Labels: New Investment in MPS Turnbar

Inline double sided label printing is now a possibility thanks to our £15,000 investment in an inline turnbar to upgrade our state-of-the-art MPS 350 printing press. This addition to the MPS 350 press means we can now print double-sided labels with two colours on the reverse liner for back sensing or additional text, graphics or warnings. This allows us to produce full-colour double-sided labels of up to 6 colours or 5 with foils or varnish.

Uses of Double Sided Labels

Double-sided labels are often used in thermal printing systems where a back sensor mark is required for the thermal label printer to register the position of the label. They can also be used to confer instructions or warning about a product. Whilst double-sided labels are most commonly found in only one colour, we have chosen to install the equipment to allow for two colours to be printed. This still leaves 6 printing stations available on our printing press to make full CMYK colour labels. It also allows for foil and varnishes to be applied. The application of foil and or varnishes can deliver real impact in the look and feel of your labels. Superior presentation allows for increased sales and higher asking prices as the visual presentation of your goods makes up around 90% of a consumer’s perception of value and worth of a product.

Manufacturing Double-Sided Labels

Previously, printing double-sided labels added additional time to production. This is because the reverse of the label would need to be printed and then the front of the label would need to be printed in an extra cycle through the printing press. This reflected in price as the additional production time meant more cost. With the turnbar equipment installed, the double-sided printing can be completed inline with no additional time-penalty to cost apart from a little setup time. This means we can produce double-sided labels for a minor increase in cost to you. This investment has only been installed on our MPS flexographic printing press.

Our digital press cannot utilise this equipment but we can still produce double-sided labels digitally with two print runs through the press – one on the back side and one on the front side. To take advantage of our investment and order your own double-sided labels, give us a call on 01332 864895 or fill in the form on this page and we will contact you by return.
