Conical Container Label Calculator

This tool is to help you determine the correct dimensions for a conical container that you need to label.

Cylindrical tubs and glassware that flare at the top or bottom need a label that is arched to sit horizontally on the product container when applied. Positive ID Labels’ in-house design team can build artwork that will appear professional, horizontally and accurately, on your conical containers.

The tool below allows you to take measurements from your container or packaging and determine the exact arc required to achieve the horizontal positioning.

How to use

Measure Diameters
Use a tape measure or rule to measure the top and bottom diameter of your tub or container in millimetres. (cm x 10)
Container heigh
Again, measure the height of your container in millimetres – this determines the dimensions of the “frustum”
Label Height
Decide how high you want the label to be. This should be less than the height of the container. Anywhere between 20% and 80% of the height measurement.
Label Position
Choose the height above the base you want to position the label. For example, if you want it 50mm from the base, just type 50 into the viable box.
Wrap Around Container
Decide how far you want the label to wrap around the container. If you want full wrap then 100%, half wrap is 50%. If you want the label to overlap, go for 105% or more.

A label that wraps a tapered container has to be cut as a curved band, not a rectangle. Enter your container’s dimensions to get the arc.
