What are the different types of guns?

Pricing guns are commonly classified into three categories: 1 line, 2 line, or 3 line. The distinction lies in the number of rows of text that can be printed on the labels.

1 line, 2 line and 3 line label guns

1 line guns are typically used for displaying just the price of an item or a use by date on a use by date label.  2 line and 3 line guns allow for additional information such as product codes, expiration dates, or special offers to be included on the labels. This versatility makes 2 and 3 line guns popular choices for businesses looking to provide more detailed information on their products. Ultimately, the choice of gun depends on the specific needs and preferences you have.

Number characters a gun can print

The number of characters that a gun can print is typically indicated by the model code, such as “C6” or “C8”. A “C6” gun can print up to 6 larger characters, while a “C8” gun can print up to 8 slightly smaller characters. For alphanumeric characters, the letter “A” is used in the code.

2 Line guns have their codes truncated, so C17 would indicate 10 characters on the top row and 7 on the bottom. C20 indicates 10 rows on the top and the bottom. Make sure you call us, and we can help you choose the correct gun for your needs.

Selecting the right ink roller for your gun

Ink rollers are proprietary consumables designed to fit specific guns. Ink rollers will normally last around 15,000 impressions before needing replacement.

Jolly ink rollers fit Swing guns, whilst Open Data accept only Open Data ink rollers which are available in two types: one that fits 1 and 2 line Open Data guns and a specific type for the Open Data T117 and Open Data T111, 3 line guns.
